EXPERIENCE
RLE Internal
Project Development, Process Management, 2015 – 2018
Creation of project tracking documents for a range of OEMs through Excel and VBA coding.
Ford Motor Company
V363 Body, Project Engineer, 2016 – 2018
Development of lightweight rear closure door hinges to replace the current overly complex design for a weight and cost saving. Steel cast hinges incorporated with a new check arm design that is common across all V363 variants. Durability action to D-Pillar structure to tackle ongoing production issues. Multi-supplier cross-continental implementation in three plants. Ongoing interaction with suppliers to improve assembly process for enhanced part quality and testing of system.
V362&3 Body, TVM Engineer, 2016 – 2018
Ongoing progression of cost saving changes, taking ideas from concept to implementation across V362 & V363.
Other OEMs
Premium Supercar, Project Tracking, 2014 – 2015
Project support role at a high end sports car manufacturer, learning the processes of OEMs whilst developing project planning tools for mapping project resources. This involved creating a detailed tracking document for the project engineers using Excel and VBA macros which was later adopted by the OEM.
Premium Supercar, Body Panels & Closures Project Engineer, 2015 – 2016
A range of responsibilities for individual components and assemblies including the delivery of engineered automotive solutions from development phase into prototype build. Creation and development of DFMEAs, Tech Specs and DVPs for the systems worked on. Direct interaction with suppliers, working through concept development and feasibility to visiting the manufacturing lines to ensuring timing was maintained and looking for cost down opportunities.
Gained experience working with a range of materials and manufacturing techniques including injection moulding plastics, compression moulding composites (SMC) and die casting metals.
Involvement in prototype build phase, learning both rapid production and manufacturing processes with hands on build experience during launch.
Education
Loughborough University, Undergraduate, 2011 – 2014
Large range of engineering topics, exploring multiple engineering fundamentals from structures and materials to vehicle aerodynamics. Final year project conducted on the numerical analysis of CNG, LPG and Hydrogen turbulent premixed flames data from experiments conducted in Sydney.
